Outshine Productions was started by two b-boys who commited themselves to throwning quality hip-hop events. The organization was started officially in 2009 when they released their first series of battles together and titled them The Northwest Battle Series. The series was picked up by several sponsors including Verizon Wireless, Evo, and F-Rock Clothing.
Their premiere event, The Takeover, is a national competition and takes place in Seattle, Washington, at Magnuson Park Community Center. It features breakers from around the country including San Diego, San Francisco, Atlanta, New York City, Portland, Vancouver, and Seattle.
In addition to throwing events, Outshine plans to hold free hip-hop classes for inner city youth in the near future. These classes will focus on break-dancing, art, and spoken word, and encourage kids to focus on positive activities.
